Manipulate
After building objects, we need to manipulate them. In the real world, after manufacturing the objects that will be part of the scene, the “Stop motion” artist needs to be able to correctly handle, control and position all the objects that will be part of his scene and the story you want to tell.
In drawn scenes the same need exists, so the designer has to be able to draw any object and control its orientation in space.
To achieve this goal, it is necessary to understand the concept of “Orientation”.

Axle
eixo
While the midline is placed in the center of the face of the object, that is, on the outside and surface, the axis is placed inside the object, in the center.
Every object will always have three potential axes, one for each of the three dimensions and they serve to indicate the direction in which they will be constructed and/or rotated.
The three axes, like the three dimensions, are perpendicular to each other.
It is not always necessary to draw or locate axes on objects.

Medium line
linha média
simetria
Midline is a line drawn down the center of the face to serve as a reference and indicate which direction the face is pointing. This feature serves as an orientation indication, especially in objects with rounded and organic shapes.

pivot
pivô
It is the point where objects rotate and helps us orient them in space. It is useful when working with hierarchy where there are pivot points between different objects. For example in the drawing of arms, legs, hands, fingers etc. It happens when objects change direction.

bow
paralelas
arco
When an object is rotated on a pivot, it generates an arc, which is its radius of action. Drawing this arc allows us to predict what the radius will be and thus draw the object in the correct dimensions and in any orientation.
